Michael Nieuwesteeg

Director Road Safety Programs and Policy – TAC

Michael has managed the Road Safety Research Team of the Transport Accident Commission since 2008. He is responsible for the TAC’s extensive road safety and marketing research program, road safety measurement and program evaluation. For six years he has provided strategic advice to the $100m per year TAC Safer Roads Infrastructure Program, and has played a central role in the development of a strategic framework for a new $100m investment in cyclist and pedestrian safety infrastructure. He is currently leading a committee tasked with deciding how injuries should be measured and defined in Victoria, and identifying the best mechanism to facilitate measurement and analysis of road safety and injury data.

Michael graduated from Monash University in 1998 with an Honours degree in Statistics, and has worked in a number of state and federal agencies in statistical roles with emphases on research, analysis, data management, performance monitoring and the provision of advice.

Myfanwy Lawrence

Myfanwy is an experienced Integration Manager with a demonstrated history of working in the transport and education sectors. Skilled in Urban Planning, Government, Road Safety, Sustainable Transport, and Regional Planning. Strong operations professional with a Master of Education (M.Ed.) focused in Popular Education & Social Change from University of Technology, Sydney.

With leadership positions at both Local and State Government level, Myfanwy has been responsible for both strategic planning and practical delivery of key products that support communities to engage in active transport

Stuart Outhred

Public Policy and Corporate Affairs RACV

Stuart is an urban planner with a keen interest in how cities function and the health of the people that live in them. He has worked in roles spanning the public and consulting sectors in Melbourne, London and Perth, with a focus on developing transport and land use research, strategy and policy. Currently with RACV’s public policy team, Stuart is looking into how Victoria is changing, and how our world-leading liveability can be enhanced.

Jo Lees

Construction Manager Lendlease

With a strong engineering and project management background, Jo has supported and promoted greater integration of active transport within the design and delivery of major construction projects around Australia.

Jo is a keen rider and as the secretary of the Dulwich Hill Cycling, has supported the growth of many cyclists in the inner west of Sydney, along with being heavily involved in the clubs promotion of the minimum distance campaign.
