Zibeon Fielding to Key Note the Awards
‘I do it for my people, I do it for my family, I do it for my loved ones … to be a role model in the community for them’
We Ride Australia is ecstatic to announce that 2020 SA Young Australian of the Year, marathon graduate of the IMF program, pioneering health professional and charity fund raiser, Zibeon Fielding, is headlining our Gala Awards Dinner for 2022 alongside TV host and media identity Osher Gunsberg.
Zibeon is an inspirational role model in his community, combining his professional health training with a belief in the benefits of an active lifestyle to make a real difference to well-being in his community at Mimili in the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands.
He describes his passion for health and promoting an active lifestyle in Mimili, saying “we don’t want to be numbers, we want to drive and look towards a brighter and healthier future for our mob.”
Zibeon was an early participant in the Bikes Palya program in the APY Lands. In 2016 he was selected for the Indigenous Marathon Program under Rob de Castella, successfully completed the New York Marathon as a 25-year-old and since then he has not stopped!
In 2019, he ran a 62km ultra-marathon in the Australian outback from Indulkana to Mimili to raise $50,000 for remote dialysis services and later undertook a 710km ride across the desert to raise $40,000 support local kids who wanted to build a community gym saying,
“So I managed to do a crazy bike ride to help fundraise and promote education around healthy living.”
