We Ride Australia is very pleased to announce that Assistant Treasurer and Minister for Financial Services, the Hon Stephen Jones MP, will launch the WeRide Australian Cycling and e-Scooter Economy Report.

The Report will be launched in Parliament House on Wednesday, 15th November as part of the Australian Cycling Luminaries Awards gala dinner.

The report builds on the 2021 report, which revealed the bicycle industry had a direct output of $6.3bn, more than twice as big as the motorsport industry and the same size as the thoroughbred racing industry.

The 2023 Report is the largest ever study of cyclists’ expenditure in this country and significantly expanded in scope to include e-Scooters, the wider health and environmental benefits and detailed information on cycle tourism nationally.

The event will be hosted by the Chairs of the Parliamentary Friends of Cycling, Zaneta Mascarenhas MP, the Hon Andrew Wallace MP and Dr Helen Haines MP who will be joined by Shadow Treasurer, Hon Angus Taylor to support the launch of the report.

Following the launch of the report, winners of the annual Cycling Luminaries Awards will be announced in the categories of Leadership, Built Infrastructure, Bike Culture and Behaviour Change and a Special Judges Recognition Award will be made for Social Impact.
