Now in its twenty-second year, Pollie Pedal is the creation of past Prime Minister Tony Abbott and takes MPs and Senators cycling 1,000km through regional areas of Australia not normally visited by senior politicians. This year from 14-21 July, We Ride’s Stephen Hodge cycled for Soldier On in the charity ride now led by senior Cabinet Minister Angus Taylor.

This year Hon Angus Taylor – Minister for Energy, Hon Ben Morton – Assistant Minister to the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Andrew Wallace MP, Dr David Gillespie MP, Hon Kevin Andrews MP, Hon Tony Abbott and various state MPs, Mayors and Councillors attended some or all of the ride with supporting riders.

The Pollie Pedal has for the last three years raised funds for Soldier On, supporting serving and ex-members of our defence forces in the transition to civilian life and helping them address the impact of their service.

This year the ride was accompanied by 10 members of Soldier On over the 1,000km route through south east Queensland passing through the Gold Coast, Kyogle, Warwick, Toowoomba, Dalby, Kingaroy, Gympie and Caloundra before arriving in Brisbane.

The ride is a unique opportunity for us to establish or reinforce positive relationships with Coalition MPs and corporate leaders sponsoring the charity all while pedalling through regional areas and assisting the ride with Stephen Hodge’s deep knowledge and expertise in cycling.
