We Ride Australia is delighted to announce that Executive Dean of Deakin University’s Faculty of Health, Distinguished Professor Rachel Huxley, will provide the opening address at the 2024 Cycling Luminaries Awards on the 27th November.

Professor Huxley will join finalists along with industry and academic experts and leaders in the bicycle sector for the announcement of the 21st Awards – held since 2002.

Joining her will be Professor Neil Coffee who will present the nationally anticipated Evaluation Report for the RideScore – Active Schools program trial with Sunshine Coast Council’s Colleen Penny, the founder of the first RideScore concept and 1999 award winner.

Professor Huxley is a globally recognised figure in population health and epidemiology.

“On a night when we honour those that work to make cycling more accessible to Australians every day, it’s great to remember just how big the health benefits are when your daily trips also get you moving, something Professor Huxley has spent her life pursuing,” said WeRide Executive Officer Peter Bourke

Professor Neil Coffee will present the nationally anticipated Evaluation Report of the RideScore program, which is proving enormously successful at boosting the number of primary school children scooting and riding to school.

Colleen Penny will tell the ‘origin story’ of RideScore and outline the ongoing growth and impact on the Sunshine Coast in 2024.
