Charlene develops and runs programs to help people within Sydney’s western region understand the transformative impact of bike riding. She works with unemployed women and mothers, children, beginner riders, aboriginal children to help empower them through cycling.

Although Charlene runs a social enterprise, and charges for some of her services. She does not earn a wage and provides her services for free. Money from these are reinvested into her other community programs.

Fiona Campbell is leading the City of Sydney’s vision to build a city for bikes.

She co-manages a multidisciplinary team of professionals delivering cycling infrastructure, behaviour change campaigns, cycling courses and events to get more people riding more often for transport.

Under her leadership, the City has established regular cycling education for adults and children, an innovative Share The Path program that has been replicated around the world, guided rides and the highly successful annual Sydney Rides Festival.

Fiona has spearheaded development and delivery of the City’s bike network, setting measurable but ambitious targets that continue to put Sydney on a global stage for cycling leadership and advocacy.

The Amy Gillett Foundation (AGF) created a program, Sharing Roads Safely, to increase truck driver awareness of vulnerable roads users.

Dr Marilyn Johnson, Amy Gillett Foundation Research and Policy Manager, led the creation of this project from conception to pilot delivery. Dr Johnson is also a Senior Research Fellow at Monash University’s Institute of Transport Studies.

Sharing Roads Safely, was developed in consultation with the heavy vehicle industry, road safety experts and vulnerable road user groups. It is grounded in insights from cycling safety research and international best practice. The program is comprised of three parts: an online e-learning module, a hands-on in class workshop, and a practical on-bike session.

This program facilitates participation by fostering a safer bike riding environment across Australia. We know safety is the key barrier to participation. Making our roads safer through education is the critical pathway to greater participation in cycling.

Sarah Court is a senior team leader within the Department of Transport’s Cycling Team and is responsible for the transformation of cycling in regional Western Australia. Having joined the team in April 2017,

She has developed Western Australia’s first regional cycling planning program with strategies currently in development for the South West region, Geraldton and Esperance with plans in Pilbara and Kimberley scheduled to commence in late 2018. Through Sarah’s leadership the program approach has been consultative, well informed and aspirational. In addition to this, she has developed a fresh, new cycle network hierarchy for Western Australia. She is a true leader and innovator in cycling planning with the objective of increasing cycling participation at the heart of her work.
